I’ve spent the past eight days lying in bed with the flu, and with that amount of time to really be with yourself, you really begin to discover some powerful insights about yourself and your life. One eye-opening insight I was fortunate to discover was the amount of time I have actually spent worrying about things that were out of my control.

Just to have the honesty to admit that to myself took a lot of courage. But I knew if I didn’t confront it at some point, it would sabotage my life like it has in so many ways. I, for one, was not ready to allow that to continue.

I grew up in a place (New Orleans) and around people where worry was pretty normal. When you’re around it long enough, it not only becomes normal to you, but it becomes the main theme running your thought process. To give you an example of how worry was fed into my consciousness at such a young age, let me go down the line and explain how it all played out.

6AM News: Crime, 11AM News: Crime, 5 PM News: Crime, 6PM News: Crime 8:30 PM: Family talks about the crime, 11PM News: Crime.
