How To Succeed As An Actor Through The “Stuck” Times.
I was reading one of the greatest pieces ever written on what to do when you are going through tough times as an actor. This book is called “The Dip” by Seth Godin. What’s really wonderful about this book is that it describes the best time to quit, and how to do it in an expediant capacity.
And, not just quitting for the sake of giving up and walking away from everything. But, being able to walk away from that which no longer is working for you.
As actors, we have a habit of, often times, attaching ourselves onto a stream of energy and just riding it into the ground without stopping to make adjustments, or ponder the best time to make adjustments. Suddenly we find ourselves in a hole stuck without any forward movement.
This is a very valuable lesson for all of us that have chosen the path of performance in this lifetime.
Being stuck or having a tough time means you have to shift your energy. Sometimes that means shifting your focus, taking some time off, or discovering an entirely different angle to approach your craft from.
It’s interesting to think that we can only see things for what they are when we take a moment to step back into a wider scope of awareness. We’ve been taught that success is linear, but it’s actually a lot like getting lost and…
