THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP AND THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION.
This is by far one of the most beloved movies of mine, and not just because the acting is superb and story well-written. The Shawshank Redemption gave me hope at a time in my life when all seemed hopeless.
Even when things were’nt going well, it was a stark reminder that anyone, anywhere can make the best of any situation.
I came up with a quote that I feel like could have come from Andy Dufresne himself…
“Just because the world can make us feel like a prisoner, doesn’t mean we have to be a prisoner in our own minds. They can physically take everything away from you, but they can’t take what’s in your soul. That is where it really counts.”
I often wonder how such a dynamic film wasn’t well received by the public at first. What’s even more baffling is how is this film Morgan Freeman’s first as a narrator? But, I’m not here to complain about the obvious misses.
I’d like to focus in on the places where the film connected and knocked it out of the park.
